Overview of Amelia Island State Park

Visitors come to this state park to enjoy the beautiful unspoiled beaches, coastal maritime forests, and 200 acres of wilderness along the southern tip of Amelia Island. Located just outside the park, the George Crady Bridge Fishing Pier spans Nassau Sound and is a popular fishing spot. Residents and visitors frequently cast their lines for species like whiting, flounder, tarpon, and redfish throughout the year. For those in need of fishing supplies, the On the Line Bait and Tackle shop offers a walk-up window where bait, snacks, and beverages can be purchased.

Beaches and Activities

Sugary White Sand Beaches

The main draw for many visitors is the park's pristine, sugary white sand beach. Here, you can relax, stroll along the beach, search for shark teeth and shells, or fish along the shoreline. Additionally, the park is one of the premier sites along the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail. Keep an eye out for shorebirds like piping plovers, willets, black skimmers, royal terns, ospreys, pelicans, and bald eagles. Note that beach closures occur during nesting season from March to September to protect these species.

More Activities

Beyond the beach, visitors can partake in a variety of activities including horseback riding, biking the Timucuan Trail, and kayaking. Ample parking is available, and a shower station next to the bait and tackle shop's restrooms provides convenience for beachgoers.

Wildlife and Sunset Views

According to visitors, Amelia Island State Park is an exceptional place for wildlife viewing and birdwatching. One of the best spots on the island for capturing a stunning sunset can be found here as well.
