Overview of Vulcan Park and Museum

Overlooking the city of Birmingham stands a bearded man that pays homage to Vulcan, the Roman god of fire and forge. Vulcan, the largest cast iron statue in the world, serves as a reminder of the city's iron mining history. Visitors can ascend the Vulcan tower for spectacular, open-air views of the city or explore the ground-level museum to learn more about Birmingham's past. The park is also home to the city's official visitor center.

Visitor Experiences

Recent visitors enjoyed the local legend surrounding the statue and stated that the trip up the tower is well worth the cost of admission. Some reviewers do caution, however, that the open grated floor on the observation deck may be unsettling for those with a fear of heights. Most visitors agreed that the museum is interesting, making it a good Sunday morning activity when most other attractions are closed.
