Discovering Silver Dollar City: A Unique Theme Park Experience
One of the best amusement parks in the U.S., Silver Dollar City combines thrilling rides and entertainment with a down-home, late 19th-century atmosphere. Even as visitors enjoy the latest rides, they will feel transported back to the 1880s.
Attractions and Experiences
Signature attractions like the Frisco Silver Dollar Line Steam Train, which travels through Ozarks country, and the Fire-In-The-Hole roller coaster, an indoor ride featuring a fiery town bridge, contribute to the park’s old-time ambiance. With around 100 craftspeople demonstrating heritage crafts such as blacksmithing and taffy pulling, visitors receive a lesson in life during the 1800s.
Unique Souvenirs
Travelers can take home unique souvenirs made by the craftspeople, including lye soap, blown glass, homemade candies, and candles. The food at Silver Dollar City features down-home favorites, including buffets and skillet meals.
Entertainment
Alongside its rides and shops, Silver Dollar City is renowned for its variety of shows, ranging from bluegrass pickers to gospel performers to musicals.
Visitor Tips and Recommendations
Although Silver Dollar City is family-friendly, it is best suited for kids who are 36 inches or taller due to height requirements for most rides. Recent visitors recommend being prepared for the park's hilly terrain. It is also advisable to avoid the extremely busy opening weekend due to traffic and long ride lines.
Food and Beverage Tips
If you prefer not to purchase snacks in the park, Silver Dollar City allows visitors to bring their own food and nonalcoholic beverages.
