Roebling Suspension Bridge
All Things To Do
The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge
The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge is an iconic feature in Cincinnati, spanning 1,075 feet across the Ohio River. Constructed in 1867, it was once the longest bridge in the world and pioneered new bridge-building techniques, notably the large suspension cables made of 5,180 individual wires. Today, it is recognized as a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark and serves as a pleasant walking destination. The bridge provides access to several popular parks and offers excellent views of the Cincinnati skyline, while also connecting Cincinnati to the trendy Kentucky neighborhood of Covington, home to Mainstrasse Village.
Visitor Recommendations
Past visitors often recommend grabbing a coffee and spending the morning walking across the bridge and exploring the nearby Smale Riverfront Park. Additionally, the murals on the Kentucky side of the bridge have been a highlight for many. However, one visitor noted that the gaps in the bridge's framework are large enough to drop smaller items, advising caution, particularly if it's windy enough to knock your sunglasses off.
Hours
The John A. Roebling Bridge is open 24 hours a day.
