Introduction to Seven Falls

Despite its affiliation with The Broadmoor, Seven Falls is actually located 3.5 miles north of the historic luxury hotel. The seven cascades, which collectively descend 180 feet, are nestled within a scenic 1,250-foot-wall box canyon. This Colorado Springs landmark has been welcoming visitors since 1883, when it cost just 10 cents to enter the toll road to the falls.

Reaching the Falls

Upon arriving at the park entrance, visitors face a nearly one-mile walk to the base of the cascades. Guests with mobility concerns can take advantage of an in-park tram service, which costs $2. After capturing photos from the ground level, adventurers can climb the 224 steps alongside the rushing water for a bird's-eye view from the top of the falls. From this vantage point, a network of hiking trails is available for exploration. Ensure you wear sturdy shoes if you plan to hike.

Alternative Viewing Options

Alternatively, visitors can ascend 185 steps or take an elevator to the Eagle's Nest platform. Note that the only way to reach the very top of the falls is to climb the stairs.

Activities and Amenities

The Broadmoor Soaring Adventure zip line tour offers an adrenaline-charged method to view the falls and the canyon below. For those who prefer to stay on solid ground, there are gift shops and dining options available in the base area. The restaurant 1858, named for the Colorado Gold Rush, offers lunch and a prix fixe dinner, while the Falling Waffles food truck sells sweet treats.

Visitor Experiences

Visitors have enjoyed their trips to Seven Falls, although some warn that the visit can be exhausting due to the numerous steps. Many tourists believe that the stunning scenery justifies the admission fee, even if one does not climb. However, some visitors in 2022 reported long waits for the shuttle from the parking lot to the park entrance. A new timed entry ticket system implemented in 2023 aims to reduce shuttle wait times.

Operating Hours and Admission

Seven Falls operates seasonally and closes during the winter. Operating hours fluctuate between 10 a.m. and 6 or 8 p.m., depending on the day and time of year. The attraction is closed on Tuesdays from the end of May to Labor Day and on various days during the spring and fall. It is highly recommended to purchase advance timed tickets online. The cost is $18 for adults and $12 for children aged 2 to 12, with discounts available for seniors and military personnel. All visitors must park at 1045 Lower Gold Camp Road (Norris Penrose Event Center) and take a complimentary shuttle to the park entrance. For additional details, visit the dedicated website.
