The Fordyce Bathhouse Visitor Center
The Fordyce Bathhouse serves as the visitor center for Hot Springs National Park. Originally welcoming guests between 1915 and 1962, the bathhouse offered treatments ranging from massages to electrotherapy. After its closure, the building remained vacant until 1989, when it was repurposed as the park's visitor center. Today, visitors can admire the ornate architecture, stained-glass ceilings, ceramic fountains, and intricately tiled floors of this historic building.
Visiting Tips
Visitors have the chance to explore nearly the entire building, which spans three floors and a basement. Some additional highlights include a grand piano and a bowling alley. Recent visitors praised the self-guided tour available via the NPS smartphone app, as it allows for exploration at one's own pace. For a more detailed experience, groups can arrange guided tours by contacting the park in advance to ensure availability.
Hours and Tickets
The Fordyce Bathhouse Visitor Center operates daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the upper floors closing at 4:45 p.m. Access to the visitor center is free.
Situated on Bathhouse Row, the visitor center lies near other bathhouses, including the Buckstaff Bathhouse. The No. 3 (green) bus route runs adjacent to the Fordyce Bathhouse Visitor Center, and its downtown location makes it easily accessible by car.
