This lush sanctuary is perfect for a leisurely stroll under the shade of flowering trees, offering opportunities to spot native and migratory birds, butterflies, turtles, and koi fish.
Garden Features
The garden is segmented into various themed areas:
- Japanese garden featuring water lilies and a red wooden bridge
- Gumbo-limbo courtyard
- Edible plant garden
- Wetland mangroves
- Turtle and koi ponds
- Water features and more
You can pick up a garden map at the entrance to navigate self-guided audio tour stops.
Size and Comparisons
Though smaller in size compared to the 83-acre Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden located 40 minutes south, Miami Beach Botanical Garden impresses visitors with its beautifully landscaped areas and tranquil ambiance. Many travelers recommend pairing a visit here with a stop at the Holocaust Memorial next door.
Educational and Shopping Opportunities
Visitors can enhance their horticultural knowledge at the Garden Center, which includes:
- Plant nursery
- Propagation center
- Outdoor classroom
Additionally, the Botanical Boutique gift shop offers flora and fauna-themed souvenirs such as local artisan crafts, jewelry, orchids, seeds, and even compost soil to grow subtropical plants at home. The garden also hosts rotating art exhibitions, workshops, and community programs.
