About Dollywood
Dollywood is likely one of the main reasons you're planning a visit to Pigeon Forge. This sprawling amusement park boasts more than 50 rides and attractions, music and entertainment shows, multiple dining options, souvenir and craft shops, and an array of festivals and events. Owned by legendary country music singer Dolly Parton, the park is a Pigeon Forge staple.
Rides and Attractions
Popular rides include rollercoasters like the Tennessee Tornado, Mystery Mine, and Big Bear Mountain. Families favor kid-friendly attractions such as a carousel, a scrambler, spinning teacups, and swings.
Entertainment and Shows
In addition to rides, Dollywood hosts Dolly Parton sing-a-longs, various seasonal theater performances, and features an extensive interactive museum known as the Dolly Parton Experience. Parkgoers can also enjoy wildlife demonstrations at its 30,000-square-foot aviary, housing non-releasable raptors (including bald eagles) in partnership with the American Eagle Foundation.
Seasonal Events
No matter the time of year you visit, it's worth checking the park's calendar for ongoing festivals or events. Special food and drink offerings are often available, particularly during the holidays.
Visitor Reviews
Dollywood has received rave reviews from recent visitors, who praised everything from the rides to the shows. Many patrons appreciated the park's cleanliness and magical themes and decor. However, some visitors mentioned that Dollywood can get crowded, leading to long lines for both rides and refreshments. Others commented on the high cost, considering both ticket prices and food. Some travelers also warned that the coal smoke from the park's train can be difficult for people with respiratory sensitivities, so consider bringing a mask.
Location and Accessibility
Dollywood is located just east of central Pigeon Forge, with on-site parking available for a fee. Much of the park is wheelchair accessible, and there's a calming area for visitors who need a break from the crowds due to sensory sensitivities.
Hours
Dollywood's hours of operation vary depending on the day and season but it is typically open from about 10 or 11 a.m. to around 8 or 9 p.m. The park closes seasonally from early January to mid-March. Be sure to check the website to confirm hours of operation before your trip, as the park is closed for several days throughout the season.
Tickets
Ticket prices for visitors aged 10 to 61 are $92, $122, and $132, for one-, two-, and three-day passes, respectively. There's a $10 discount for children aged 4 to 9 and for seniors. You can also add access to Dollywood's Splash Country park for an additional $10 per ticket.
