Introduction to the Palace of the Governors
Dating back to 1610, the Palace of the Governors was originally the capitol of New Mexico and has been in public use longer than any other building in the country. This adobe structure is historically significant for its connection to the Pueblo Revolt in 1680, during which Pueblo Indians successfully expelled Spanish invaders from Santa Fe, forcing them to flee to El Paso. Today, this National Historic Landmark is a part of the New Mexico History Museum and showcases over 400 years of the state's history. Outside the palace, Native American artists offer handmade pottery, jewelry, and other items.

Historical Knowledge and Vendor Insights
Recent visitors have expressed that they gained substantial knowledge about New Mexico's history by touring this site. Additionally, they appreciated the educational insights provided by vendors about their wares, noting that the vendors were not overly aggressive in their sales tactics.
Current Exhibit Limitations
However, some visitors were disappointed to find many historical exhibits typically located within the palace had been removed owing to a building renovation that started in early 2023. While the building remains accessible, the educational exhibits may be limited during this time.
