Lion Country Safari: A Unique Adventure
Sitting 21 miles west of downtown West Palm Beach, Lion Country Safari is renowned as the first cageless drive-thru zoo in the United States. Although the journey might be lengthy, the experience of observing nearly 1,000 animals roaming freely around your vehicle makes it worthwhile. With animals originating from six continents, visitors can witness 90 different species, including lions, Asiatic water buffalo, tapirs, ostriches, and giraffes.
Adventure Park: More Than Just a Zoo
In addition to the drive-thru safari, guests can explore Adventure Park. This walk-through portion of the park offers various activities, such as feeding giraffes and birds, playing miniature golf, enjoying paddle boats, and experiencing water park rides.
Visitor Experiences and Tips
Previous visitors have particularly praised the friendly staff, well-maintained grounds, and the unique opportunity to see animals up close. To save money, consider bringing packed lunches instead of purchasing food within the park.
Park Hours and Admission
Lion Country Safari's drive-thru adventure operates from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekends and holidays. Note that public transportation is not available in the vicinity, so driving to and within the attraction is necessary.
Admission Costs
Regular admission is priced at $49 for visitors aged 10 and older, $37 for children aged 3 to 9, and free for children 2 and younger. All general admission tickets grant access to both the drive-thru and walk-thru parts of the park. For an additional fee, premium experiences like giraffe painting and flamingo feedings are available.
Additional Amenities
Visitors can also enjoy facilities such as restrooms, gift shops, restaurants, picnic areas, and water rides within Adventure Park.
