Introduction to Jordan Pond
Jordan Pond is a stunning lake located in Acadia, which is a must-visit for every traveler.
Things to Do at Jordan Pond
Hiking the Jordan Pond Path
The easy-to-moderate 3.3-mile Jordan Pond Path winds around the pond's uneven rocky shoreline, featuring wooden boardwalks, footbridges, and boulders. Along your hike, enjoy breathtaking views of the pond's crystal-clear waters reflecting the surrounding mountains. However, remember that swimming or even dipping your toes is prohibited since the pond is a public water supply.
Exploring the Carriage Roads
Jordan Pond also serves as a hub for the park's Carriage Road system. You can reach this area by hiking, bicycling, or even horseback riding if you bring your own horse. Pair your adventure with a visit to the Jordan Pond House Restaurant.
Dining at Jordan Pond House Restaurant
The Jordan Pond House Restaurant offers a delightful menu with soups, lobster rolls, and its famous popovers and tea. The restaurant is open from late April to late October and provides both indoor and outdoor seating. Recent visitors have praised the delicious food and the stunning scenery. The restaurant is also known for being family-friendly. Keep in mind, however, that it can get very crowded around lunchtime, especially during summer. Outdoor diners may also encounter bees. To avoid a long wait, arrive early or make reservations by calling the restaurant. If you're planning your hike, the Pemetic Mountain Loop and other trails start nearby.
Getting to Jordan Pond
While you can drive to Jordan Pond via Park Loop Road, be aware that parking is limited and often fills up early. Alternatively, you can take the Island Explorer shuttle, with Routes 4 and 5 making stops here.
