Introduction to the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum

The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum, inaugurated in 2020, is a state-of-the-art, 60,000-square-foot facility. It encompasses 12 distinct galleries and numerous interactive displays that delve into Olympic and Paralympic history, highlight the immense athleticism required to compete on the global stage, and feature inspiring athlete stories.

Accessibility and Inclusive Features

The museum prides itself on its inclusivity. All visitors commence their journey using an elevator to the third floor, then proceed through the galleries via a spiral ramped pathway. Various accessibility services are customizable for each exhibit, including audio descriptions or closed captioning on videos. Additionally, sensory bags containing noise-canceling headphones and fidget toys are available to enhance the experience for all guests.

Visitor Experiences

Visitors laud the extensive collection of Olympic artifacts and memorabilia as particularly impressive. Others appreciate the simulated exhibits, such as racing against track star Jesse Owens or navigating a skeleton down an icy course, finding them exceptionally enjoyable. However, some visitors express disappointment about the lack of free parking, noting that only metered spots and a paid lot are accessible nearby.

The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum is situated in southwest downtown Colorado Springs, approximately 2.5 miles west of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center.
