Sit for a spell at the Tap House's infinity bar to enjoy some of Gatlinburg's most beautiful mountain views along with a refreshing drink. This nook of the theme park feels otherworldly and delightfully tucked away. – Korrin Bishop
Overview of Anakeesta
In the Cherokee language, Anakeesta means "the place of high ground," which is fitting for this nature-centered, 70-acre mountaintop theme park. Situated 600 feet above downtown, visitors can either take the park's scenic Chondola chairlift up the hillside or ride its Ridge Rambler shuttle to the top (a good option if you're scared of heights).
Attractions and Activities
Once at the park, visitors will find a peaceful atmosphere with many shopping and dining options set against a gorgeous Smoky Mountains backdrop. They can also enjoy 360-degree views from the AnaVista observation tower, explore a bird-themed adventure area, walk 880 feet of suspended bridges that hang up to 60 feet in the air, or ride the Hellbender Smoky Mountain Coaster. Add-on activities like the Rail Runner Mountain Coaster and gem mining are also available.
Visitor Reviews and Tips
Recent visitors mentioned that the add-on experience of Astra Lumina, an immersive light show and night walk, is worth the extra cost. Even if you don't sign up for additional activities at Anakeesta, past guests were enthusiastic about how much there was to see and do for the price of admission. Some visitors warned that the chairlift can feel scary and may not be suitable for young children. Another pain point? Long lines for the activities.
