Overview of Arches National Park
Arches National Park boasts over 2,000 natural sandstone arches and rock formations, with the famous Delicate Arch being a key attraction. While the 3-mile strenuous trek to Delicate Arch offers stunning views of the snow-capped La Sal Mountains, it's not suitable for everyone. More accessible arches in the park include:
Accessible Arches
- Landscape Arch: The longest arch in North America, but with a steep trail.
- The Windows Section: Includes North Window, South Window, Turret Arch, and Double Arch.
For a unique hiking experience, the Fiery Furnace offers trails through dark slot canyons, requiring advanced permits. Note that as of March 2025, Fiery Furnace is closed to visitors. For an extended stay, consider the Devils Garden Campground.
Reservations and Entry
Due to its popularity, a timed entry pass is required during peak times. Visitors' experiences vary based on their ability to secure a reservation. Those with reservations appreciate the reduced crowd size, scenic views, and hiking opportunities. Bringing extra water is highly recommended.
The park entrance is located 5 miles from Moab, on Highway 191. The scenic drive continues for another 18 miles to Devils Garden, making a car essential for visiting.
Hours and Reservations
Arches National Park is open 24 hours a day. The visitor center operates from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. during peak summer and has restricted hours outside this period. From April to early July, and late August through October, a $2 timed-entry reservation is necessary between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. These reservations should be made up to three months in advance, separate from the park entry fee. No reservations are required for campers or those with Fiery Furnace permits.
Tickets and Fees
Access to Arches National Park is $30 per car, with discounts available for motorcyclists and pedestrians. Passes are valid for seven consecutive days.
