About Scissortail Park
A lush oasis in the middle of the city, Scissortail Park is a 70-acre urban park and arboretum extending from downtown to the Oklahoma River. The park is split into two parts: the 40-acre Upper Park and the 30-acre Lower Park, connected by a pedestrian bridge.
Activities and Amenities
Scissortail Park offers numerous activities and amenities, including sports courts and fields, paddleboard and kayak rentals on the lake, playgrounds, seasonal roller skating, a dog park, and picnic areas. The park’s fields of native prairie grasses, colorful flower gardens, and tranquil, tree-lined walkways provide a refreshing retreat from city life.
Events and Attractions
Be sure to check for concerts, exercise classes, and other events before you visit. Summer is particularly bustling with free concerts and performances. The farmers market operates every Saturday (from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) from April through October, with a smaller mid-week market held on Wednesdays (from 6 to 9 p.m.) from May through September. For dining, visit SPARK, an on-site eatery offering burgers, custards, and shakes, or check out a visiting food truck.
Parking
Reviewers have noted that metered parking spaces have a two-hour time limit. Plan accordingly by either keeping your visit to two hours, returning to your car to add more time, or opting to park in a nearby parking garage.
