Introduction to Myrtle Beach State Park

Just south of Ocean Boulevard is the maritime forest of Myrtle Beach State Park, the first state park to open its gates in South Carolina. Stay for a spell by renting a campsite for the night (tent or RV compatible) or spend the day exploring the park's nature trails, surf fishing, biking, or walking the fishing pier after grabbing an ice cream cone in the gift shop.

Park Overview

The park covers 312 acres of land that butts up to a clean beach that's usually less crowded than the public beaches, according to visitors. More amenities include picnic tables and pavilions, and a nature center if you want to learn about the turtles, birds, and other South Carolina maritime wildlife that call the park home. Recent visitors said the pier is a prime fishing spot and that the surrounding trails are great to explore.
