Introduction to State Street

Santa Barbara's most famous avenue, State Street, is the heart of the city. It cuts through downtown for 10 car-free blocks and leads right onto Stearns Wharf. It's nearly impossible to miss with its shops, art galleries, theaters, and attractions, including the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.

Shopping and Dining on State Street

After a few hours of shopping, visitors usually slide into a chair at one of the dozens of local restaurants or cafes to refuel.

Location and Accessibility

The pedestrian-only State Street is free to access and runs between Sola and Gutierrez streets.

Farmers Market

Visit on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. to peruse the farmers market that sets up shop.
