Exploring Red Rock State Park

Located about 10 miles southwest of the "Y" (the intersection of routes 89A and 179) along Oak Creek, this 286-acre nature preserve offers splendid views of Sedona's famed formations. The park includes a network of interconnecting looped trails totaling 5 miles. The Eagle's Nest Loop, for instance, takes hikers to the park's highest point with an elevation gain of approximately 300 feet. Visitors should also stop by the visitor center to delve into the area's history, participate in guided nature walks, and embark on moonlit hikes.

Many visitors regard this place as their favorite spot in Sedona due to its unmatched scenic beauty. The park caters to hikers of all ages and abilities with its varied trail difficulties and lengths. Additionally, it runs a Junior Ranger program for children aged 6 to 12, which includes a free activity sheet.

Operating Hours

Red Rock State Park operates year-round with daily activities and is open every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last entry at 4:30 p.m. The visitor center maintains hours from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Entrance Fees

Entrance fees for Red Rock State Park are $10 for adults (ages 14 and older) and $5 for youths (ages 7 to 13), while children 6 and under can enter free of charge. Additional fees apply for overnight camping.
