Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway Overview

The Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway provides train rides that depart from Jim Thorpe, offering a scenic journey through Lehigh Gorge State Park. These 70-minute narrated, round-trip rides cover 16 miles. Travelers have the option to ride in an open-air car, a highly recommended experience by previous visitors.

Seating Options

The train offers various seating options including:

• Crown-Class seating with plush, reclining chairs
• A climate-controlled Dome Car with panoramic views
• A First-Class Lounge Car with complimentary snacks and nonalcoholic drinks
• A Private Caboose accommodating up to six riders

Note that some train cars, such as the Open-Air car, are only available seasonally.

Biking

If you're interested in biking through Lehigh Gorge State Park, consider the Bike Train offered by Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway. Partnering with Pocono Biking, the Bike Train allows cyclists to travel to White Haven, approximately 25 miles away, and then bike back to Jim Thorpe.

Themed Train Rides

Families can enjoy themed train rides that run seasonally. Popular options include the Autumn Leaf excursion in the fall and the Santa Claus Special train during the holiday season.
