Overview of the Cincinnati Zoo

Cincinnati is home to the country's second-oldest zoo. It's especially noted for its work with endangered species like black rhinos through its Lindner Center for Conservation and Research of Endangered Wildlife. The zoo is also recognized for its innovative birthing programs with animals such as Sumatran rhinos. On your visit, you'll encounter a wide array of animals, from a fennec fox or an African lion to an aardvark or a pygmy slow loris. The zoo is expanding, and in 2025, they will welcome siamangs (a gibbon species), Asian small-clawed otters, babirusas (deer pigs), and rhinoceros hornbills.

Popular Attractions

Many visitors flock to see the zoo's famous hippos: Fritz, Fiona, Bibi, and Tucker. The interactive exhibits, such as the giraffe and penguin feedings, are also popular attractions. However, some visitors have noted that the zoo can be challenging to navigate due to inadequate maps and signage. Additionally, the steep hills pose challenges for visitors with wheelchairs or strollers.

Tickets

General admission ticket prices vary by day due to dynamic pricing, and the zoo recommends booking in advance online for maximum savings. Adult tickets range from $9 to $26, while tickets for seniors and kids ages 3 to 12 cost between $6 and $20. Alternatively, you can purchase a "rides package," which includes zoo admission and unlimited carousel and train rides. These packages range from $16 to $38 for adults and $13 to $27 for children and seniors.

Hours

The zoo welcomes visitors every day (except certain holidays) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. During the PNC Festival of Lights, which takes place from late November through the end of December, the zoo extends its hours.

Location

You'll find the zoo north of downtown Cincinnati on Vine Street. For more information, visit the zoo's website.
