The water in the fountain is potable, but be sure to fill your bottles from the spigots, not the reservoirs. – Danielle Vilaplana
Overview of Fountain Square
Fountain Square is a prominent downtown gathering space, aptly named for its iconic centerpiece, the Tyler Davidson Fountain. This fountain, completed in 1871, was a generous donation from Henry Probasco in memory of his brother-in-law, Tyler Davidson. The main feature of the fountain is the statue "Genius of the Water," which represents the blessings of water.
Events and Activities
The plaza is a bustling hub for a variety of concerts and events such as Jazz on the Square, Trivia Night, and the BLINK art festival. It's a popular hangout spot in the summer, and transforms into an ice rink during the winter. The surrounding downtown area is vibrant, featuring numerous locally-owned restaurants and bars within easy walking distance.
Visitor Experiences
Many visitors have particularly enjoyed the live music and trivia events held in the square during the summer. However, some travelers found the square less appealing when it was empty, noting there wasn't much to do during those times.
Location
Fountain Square is located at the intersection of East 5th and Vine streets, in the recently rebranded "Fountain District." Parking in the downtown area can be challenging, so visitors are encouraged to use the Connector. Event details can be found on the Fountain Square calendar available on their official website.
